We have a new position for a prestigious customer of our's in Cambridge - MUST have PR Agency experience
1. JobTitle:

3. Levelof Supervision
· Ableto work under own initiative on a daily basis, with referral to line manager ona weekly basis, for strategic guidance, input and direction and to update onclient activity
4. Corporate Responsibilities
To:
· Discusswith line manager of any problem with a client programme or client relationshipand resolve as a team
· Adhereto company policies and procedures (eg completing time sheets)
· Participate in company meetings, initiatives andcampaign development meetings as required
· Sustainand develop network of journalist contacts
· Representthe company at corporate events as required
· Havean understanding of Golley Slater’s other businesses and offices
· Ensureyour appearance and manner appropriately represent the company
· Workas a team with colleagues within Golley Slater PR and all the other members ofthe group
5. PR Industry Knowledge
· Readrelevant media and bring important issues to attention of clients andcolleagues
· Keepabreast of PR services that will enhance the agency’s client offering
· Attendrelevant training courses as agreed with the company
· Demonstratea good understanding of the various PR disciplines (eg financial, consumer,corporate, business-to-business, issues management, crisis management, mediatraining) so that these services can be sold to clients as and when appropriate
· Demonstratean understanding of the role, responsibilities, vocabulary, techniques, ethics,law and regulations relating to public relations, marketing, advertising,direct marketing, sales promotion
6. Client Servicing
· Buildpositive relationships with day-to-day, middle and potentially seniormanagement client contacts
· Provideregular client interaction (eg phone updates, meetings, contactreports/ensuring activity reports are completed/ensuring media evaluations areprovided to the client)
· Provideprofessional advice to client
· Keepabreast of industry issues affecting clients and use in campaign planning
· Use your full understanding of the range of PRpractices (features, news, promotions, exhibitions, literature etc) to promotethe client’s business
· Take responsibility for planning creative andresults-orientated PR programmes for your clients, writing action plansproficiently and referring to your line manager before issuing to clients
· Evaluate campaigns (using external resource wherenecessary)
· Write press material and client reports thatrequire no sub-editing internally
· Ensuremedia communications are issued to deadline
· Demonstratein-depth knowledge of the workings of/opportunities for coverage in thenational and regional print and broadcast media
· Developan understanding of social media / social networking
· Build/sustainrelationships with key journalists
· Developnews angles and place stories in across appropriate print/broadcast media
· Readrelevant client trade media
· Readlocal, regional and national media as appropriate
· Monitorcuttings and ensure they are collated by the administrative assistant
· Compilemedia mailing lists and oversee press release mailings (delegating work asnecessary)
6. Client Servicing Continued
· Ensureall client reports are completed to time and accurately
· Ensureall client files are maintained properly both on the computer and hard copyfiles
· Setbudgets for client projects and manage those budgets
· Abilityto undertake communications audits
· Abilityto design/brief on/undertake desk research
· Identifyissues, trends and risks relevant to each client’s organisation
· Dealwith issues/crisis management on behalf of clients with reference to AccountDirector, Client Services or Managing Director
· Abilityto advise clients ahead of media interviews
7. People Management (peoplereporting into you)
· Motivatestaff and act as a role model
· Directand brief staff fully and appropriately
· Develop the PRskills of junior staff (on-the-job coaching)
· Manageyour own time and that of junior staff (using workload planning and timesheets)
· Undertake formalperformance reviews with the executive staff you manage, with the support ofyour line manager
· Identifyand recommend training for junior staff
8. New Business Development &Marketing
· Takean active role in new business development - eg research, ideas, proposals and pitches, working with the MD and thebusiness development manager (who is based in another GS office)
· Activelyseek opportunities to grow business with existingclients (eg, newsletters/development of crisis management plans)
· Takea full role in new business development
9. General
· Beaware of the financial implications of your decisions (fees, profitability,debtors) – training will be provided if not experienced in this area
· Takeresponsibility for drafting and issuing client invoices (expenses/projects) andsigning off monthly fee invoices
